Pastel Asos x Hello Kitty, Primark and Rokit Haul

For once in my life I have actually managed to one, go to London and actually stay in budget and two keep everything I bought to a particular theme. The theme being pastel, well, mainly different shades of pink. Maybe, this is because most of the items I got are from Primark but it still counts!

However, I did also happen to puruse Asos before I went to London and a certain Asos x Hello Kitty collection may have dropped. I did not go mad (for me) however so I only got two items and one I’m not sure if I’m going to keep (I need opinions).

I am happy with what else I got though (even if spoiler alert that is because it contains a lot of socks) even if I still need a white slip (to go under a purchase I bought and a sheer white vintage number I got before the trip and a dress that’s in the sale in New Look that I’ve been wanting for a while). Also, some plain black shoes that are also suitable for work (or brown!). I’m trying to hold off spending this month though, as I really want to focus on saving!

IMG_0320
The sheer white dress I mentioned.

Also, apologises that I’m only posting once a week at the moment. I really wanted to try and coordinate my blog content to my YouTube content.

These posts will either be on Thursdays or Sundays so still fitting the schedule but for a little bit they are only going to be once a week while I catch up.

So, here’s the video to this blog post below – extra brownie points to anyone who reads this post and watches the video!

I’ll start with the Asos x Hello Kitty collection as I got this before my trip. For those who are new here I’m a big Hello Kitty fan and loved the Lazy Oaf x Hello Kitty collection as well as the Topshop pop up. Essentially, if it’s got Hello Kitty on, I’m there. So when I saw Asos we’re doing another drop I knew I had to investigate especially as I didn’t get anything last time. I further knew I needed this collection when I saw that the tones were  pastel focused.

Hello Kitty x Asos pastel jacket

When I saw this denim jacket featuring pink, yellow (fun fact: I love yellow hence why La La was my favourite Teletubby) and denim; I knew I needed it. As the description on the jacket said no stretch despite the jacket looking slightly oversized on the pictures of the model; I still for some reason wasn’t expecting this to be oversized. However, it is. This isn’t a bad thing because I love a good oversized denim jacket but I just wanted to flag it – if you wanted a tighter fit I’d recommend going a size down.

Maybe, the searing heat taking place at the moment is scouring my judgment on this one but I’m not sure if this suits me. I’m also struggling to put this with outfits at the moment, especially as the heat doesn’t really make me prone to wanting to. I think another problem is that I need more denim/ white staple dresses in my wardrobe for layering, as I have lots of black pieces but I often don’t want to wear them with softer pastel looks. I’m considering investing in this white denim dress from Monki, as I think it will help a lot and the style of dress is very much in my comfort zone. However, like I said I’m also trying to save money (the eternal conundrum!) – if I can get to half way through the month without spending too much I might treat myself!

Price: I’d rather not discuss.

Beret: Just Peachy

Skirt: Lazy Oaf

Socks and trainers: See below…

Hello Kitty x Asos socks

Although, I hesitated a little between whether I should buy the pink or white with these I decided to go with the classic white, as I thought it would be cute with a few of my Lazy Oaf x Hello Kitty pieces. These are the kind of socks I’m scared to wear as I don’t want to ruin but I will because I personally think life is for living and socks are for wearing!

Price: £4.00

Primark pusheen top

Pusheen and a pink grid pattern? What’s there not to like?! The stitching on this isn’t perfect on the Pusheen but then it is Primark. This is also a little sheer and it is £8 (so not incredibly cheap) but it will look great tucked into skirts or high waisted jeans.

Beret: Just Peachy

Cardigan: Lazy Oaf

Skirt: Lazy Oaf

Socks: Primark (see below)

Shoes: Primark (see below)

Pink fluffy top

This is actually one of my favourite purchases from the day. It’s actually really good quality and I was worried it was going to be itchy but it’s actually very soft. I definitely want to go back and get another one of these tops and perhaps some more colours. I haven’t washed this yet so don’t know how that is going to go. This is a 90s dream and would look great with a A-line skirt. On the label it said this was part of Primark’s new improved sizing. Since it’s a top it’s hard for me to judge on that as I can fit a range of different sizes in tops usually but it did fit nice for what it’s worth.

Price: £8

Pink Frenchie socks

It’s probably best if I do all the socks in one go (minus the Hello Kitty ones of course) because there’s quite a lot of them. The first pair are these adorable pink Frenchie socks and I love these as they come already ready to wear folded with shoes. Since I have little legs unless a sock is designed like this they are often go too high on my leg to be worn peaking out of shoes and look flattering. These however are perfect and I am determined to go back and buy every variation.

IMG_0279

Price: £1.50

Pink Strawberry socks

These were the socks that I spotted before I picked up the Frenchie ones. They are the same style but a slightly darker pink and with a strawberry on. I LOVE pink and strawberries as a pattern combination so could not resist these when I saw them. I can’t wait too put them to good use!

Price: £1.50

Pink glittery Marie socks

Glitter. Check. Marie. Check. Socks. Check. These are definitely then dream socks for me. The only thing that could make them better if they were pre-folded like the Frenchie and Strawberry socks. I definitely want to incorporate this into a Marie look with my other Marie pieces (it is way TOO HOT for the jacket at the moment though).

IMG_0289

Price: £2

Pastel Honeydukes Harry Potter socks

These are less to wear peaking out of shoes and more to bring some everyday pastel into my life. I am in awe of the Primark Honeydukes collection and wish I had bought more of it (next trip I just might have to pick up the makeup bag and pyjama set).

Price: £2.50

Pastel Honeydukes Jelly Bean Harry Potter trainers

These are without a doubt my favourite purchase of the day. I am seriously considering buying another pair, as I don’t think I’ll be able to cope when this pair wear out. Not only do they have a bit of a platform which I am always in need of but they combine two of my favourite things: pastels and Harry Potter. I think I might of needed a size down in these as they are bit loose at the ankle but that might be aided by tying them up to the last available aglet (the reason I haven’t done already is because on one of the shoes the lace has a knot in preventing me from doing so).

Price: £10

Rokit Pink pastel vintage gingham dress

Based on the shoulder pads inserted in the shoulders alone I’m going to guess this is from the 80s (I may take these out but am undecided yet). This dress is about midi length on me and I’m going to need to wear a slip underneath it as it’s sheer (I’m going to pick some up on my next Primark trip as this is an issue with a few of my items now). I love the little details on the button and the cute circle detailing. Once I have something to wear underneath this will look great with my Harry Potter trainers and the Strawberry socks.

So there it is my for once on a theme haul. I know my content has been a lot of hauls recently so I’m going to try and mix it up. I want to do some personal posts again but those are hard to write and I’ve been facing a bit of a writers block recently. I’m hoping posting once a week for a while will help sort this out. As always let me know what your favourite content of mine is. I’m thinking of doing some more content with just more of my general likes and dislikes + facts about me in the upcoming weeks so watch out for that!

June Favourites

Hello, everyone! June was very much a mixed bag for me as a human being but hopefully I’ll be able to pull some favourites out of the month. I really need to note down what I’ve been enjoying throughout the month more as honestly as I get to writing these posts and it’s not until half way through writing that I remember what I’ve done in the month.

Style wise I’ve been all over the place this month. I’m talking 90s queen one minute and 70s flowy hippy style the next but I’m trying to embrace it even if my Instagram feed is probably a chaotic mess to most people. I’ve also been trying to document my outfits more. I’ve found taking a photograph and then taking a day or two off works because in that time off I realise the picture is actually nice instead of instantly thinking its terrible.

This was also the month I started my YouTube channel (finally!) and although I’m still nervous I’m excited for future videos and hopefully I point where I can properly align my schedule with this blog. At the moment I’m uploading about once a week (purely because of how long editing takes). Since I work full time during the week I struggle to get videos out until the weekend. I’m actually going to film a video to accompany this post but it probably won’t be up until after this post has been released. One of the reasons for this is because some of the items that are my favourites are on hold for me Friday so I’d like to wait for the video to show some proper shots of me wearing them! When the video is live I’ll be sure to add it to this post however.

What I’ve been wearing….

Vintage clothing

This month I’ve really been inspired by rummaging through vintage and charity shops to find one off pieces. Since I’ve also been loving 90s style this has been quite successful as 90s items aren’t too hard to find in either place compared to older more sought after 50s pieces. Although, I’ll admit some months when I’m feeling less inspired or focused it can feel like a minefield; it’s been a great tactic for me this month as I get to reuse pieces (which is better for Mother Earth); save money a lot of the time and be a uniquely sassy individual.

April in blazer

I picked up the blazer in the above photograph (please forgive the morning rush messiness) from Little Viking Vintage on their sale rail for £10. Although, I am instantly drawn to basically every blazer in the world (because blazers are my style super item) I was especially drawn to this item because to me it was the epitome of 90s TV presenter. I paired it was dark green dress that matched some of the flecks and the sparkly converse I got for my birthday for a 90s casual look.

Dress: H & M (old)

Blazer: Little Viking Vintage

Shoes: Miley Cyrus x Converse

Floral dress.jpg

The other item I snagged in the sale rail for £10 is this lovely mid floral dress that just oozes 90s – to me it reminds me a little bit of the more earthy toned items worn in The Craft or the outfits worn in The Virgin Suicides. However,  although The Virgin Suicides was made in the 90s it was set in the 70s so the clothes had a slightly different feel.

the craft.png
The Craft (1996)
The Virgin Suicides 3
The Virgin Suicides (1999)

I didn’t have quite the right plain white top to go underneath this but am hoping to pick one up this weekend when I go into London. I think this dress would look nice styled nice and simply with accessories kept minimal.

Denim Playsuit.jpg
Apologises for the awful pose – all clothes on the floor are mine!

I’m also going to pick up this amazing denim playsuit this weekend and am considering wearing it for Pride but haven’t decided to wear that or the other dress I’m picking up which is a long 70s embroidered dress with cap sleeves that is sheer (hence no photograph as I need to buy something to wear underneath). I’ll try both looks on in my YouTube video so the internet can tell which looks better (ha, ha).

Fishnets

I finally gave in and bought some fishnet tights from the market as well as some fishnet socks (which would have looked amazing with the vegan Dr Martens I desperately wanted in an Ebay auction but couldn’t afford to bid on!). Although, I only picked up black I do want some white and pink pairs, as well as glitter in the future. The tights from the market were only £4 and the socks £2 and they are actually very comfortable.

90s slightly grunge queen.

Top: Vintage Sonic Youth top because I’m too trendy for you (ha, ha).

Dress: Vintage M & S (check out this post to find out more).

Hat: Yesstyle (the one linked is similar)

Choker: Yesstyle

Though when buying the man running the stall did ask my clothes size, which completely threw me. It turns out he was asking as they had a bigger size depending on height and stuff but I think maybe they just need to have a size on their display so people can decide! I’m luckily I’m at a place where I can mostly brush off comments like that but others can’t. It turns out the tights are quite large on me and I can pull them up very high (which, to be honest I like).

Hearts outfit brick wall.jpg

Beret and bag: Lazy Oaf

Choker: Yesstyle

Dress: Primark

Shoes: Iron Fist

70s style long dresses

I haven’t actually bought the dress I’m going to insert an image of below because I’m still not sure and think there might be things I want in London more this weekend. It will also need hemming because I’m short and I’ll need to buy one of those suction cup bra things but I think it’s flattering and will be nice and cool for the current heatwave (let me know your thoughts below). I’m not sure on the exact brand as it’s from TK Maxx but price wise it’s £29.99 (or you know £30) if that helps anyone’s decision making process.

Love Moschino heart print sandals

This is another thing from TK Maxx that I have tried on but haven’t bought. However, this item I very highly doubt I will because reduced they’re still £70!!! They are the most gloriously 90s style shoes and they’re covered in hearts, which I love! A bonus of these is that Love Moschino doesn’t use real leather as far as I have been to tell because the creative director Jeremy Scott is vegetarian. Please correct me if this is incorrect!

Apologises this outfit really doesn’t go but is just what I happened to be wearing that day!

Daisy Duck belt

So you just got a sneak peak of the next item except the difference is that I actually bought this item. I got this thinking it would look super cute with Lazy’s Oaf new pastel half and half jeans (if I actually end up getting them). However, it’s more of a hip belt and I wanted it to wear with fairly high waisted items so I think I’m going to have to DIY some more holes into it. I can’t remember the exact price but it was about £13 (you can see the exact price in my picture below, ha, ha) and I had to get it because of the buckle.

Everything I got at the Lazy Oaf sample sale

If you’ve not read my post with what I got at the Lazy Oaf sample sale yet or watched my video first of all where have you been? Second of all, if you have seen it then you know how I managed to pick up some goodies this time that I have been obsessed with. Something, I’ve learnt for next time though is that I think I’m going to try and focus more on the lower priced items so I can come away with more (whether I’ll be able to achieve that is another story!!!).

What I’ve been obsessed with…

The 90s

As mentioned numerous times already (and in my last blog post!) I’ve been feeling very nostalgic towards the decade I was born in at the moment. Since I grew up with a lot of TV shows from the era which inspired me fashion wise A LOT it’s unsurprising those outfits hold a dear place in my heart. I’m definitely going to be looking back over Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Clueless in the coming months so hopefully expect some posts inspired by this.

Buffy
Forever my style queen.

What I’ve been watching…

Set It Up

If you’re looking for an easy to watch romantic comedy I’d recommend Set It Up on Netflix, as not only does it star Titus from Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (my only motivation for watching it) but it’s actually an enjoyable watch. It’s only interesting to see the ways in which gender politics within romantic comedies are changing, especially the jokes made to appeal to a 2018 audience.

What I’ve been collecting…

Gachapon containers

This is a bit of a weird one but I’m determined to collect enough to somehow DIY a lampshade (I’ll let you know how that goes). For those who don’t know what I mean Gachapon containers are the little plastic containers that house the toys you get out of the machines where you put a pound in.

Gachapon

Keychains/ Powerpuff Girls Kinder Egg Toys

So I may have a small Powerpuff Girls obsession and I love trinkets so I’ve been collecting any small Powerpuff Girls toys that I can get my hands on. I actually gave out the kinder egg that contained this toy at work with the condition that I would swap the toy if they got the Powerpuff toy (the pack I bought was a pack of three but only one egg had a Powerpuff girls toy – I’ve since only bought the individual Powerpuff Girls eggs to escape this deception).

I also have been loving buying the small Disney Tsum Tsum keychains to put on my keys – I also get a care bear toy which is noisy and rattles but I love it and I want more.

Powerpuff girls

What’s I’ve generally liked/ loved this month…

Hello Kitty charity shop toys

In one of local charity shops I think they received a donation from a Hello Kitty collector as one of their cabinets was choc a bloc. They’re all very loved and used but I had to pick up these two especially the Hello Kitty astronaut! The astronaut was £4 and the other Hello Kitty £3 I believe.

TK Maxx

Near where I work there is a TK Maxx that I like to go in on my break and window shop (a skill I’ve perfected) and I have to say my love for the shop has been reignited a bit even if there isn’t the best selection in that shop. I’ve also noticed TK Maxx stock brands like Topshop and River Island now which is a twist (I noticed some dresses that I’m pretty sure came out earlier this year) from what I’ve seen from them in the past.

Birthday presents

Since this month was my birthday month I also have to give a shout out to everyone who bought me a present. I loved everything I got and I am incredibly grateful. You can read about what I got for my birthday here.

Hello Kitty Topshop Pop Up Shop Mini Haul

As you have all probably realised by now I have a serious weakness for Hello Kitty. If you are new welcome, my name is April, and be prepared for a lot of Hello Kitty. So this haul all started because I was scrolling my Instagram and saw on the official Hello Kitty Instagram that they had a pop up shop in Topshop till the 1st July.

Knowing that I had missed out on this last year from watching videos from a Youtuber called Princess Fancypants (if you love Lazy Oaf or Hello Kitty she is the Youtuber for you and has posted some really useful videos like what it is like going to a Lazy Oaf sample sale) I decided I couldn’t miss it this year. Especially as the theme this year was Hello Kitty gang themed (and I like to pretend I am sassier than I am).

Despite wanting pretty much everything they had there I was able to restrain myself and only got 3 items, and in my defence for one of them I actually needed it!

The first thing I got was this adorable customised Hello Kitty phone case (and the only thing I actually needed). They had two different designs to chose from and you could choose whether you wanted a white or black ring around the edge. I went for white just because I thought it would match my phone better.

For a Iphone 6S phone case customised it was £18.00, and took about 10 minutes to complete. You are able to have your first name (or whatever name or word you want to be fair) at the top and then at the bottom above the words ‘Hello Kitty Gang’ you can have up to three initials.  I ended up having three initials so I could include my middle name, as I think it looks classier somehow (don’t lie you can totally see those initials on a satchel bag looking swanky).

Apri Hello Kitty Phone Case

Here’s a picture of all the other options, and if I hadn’t chosen the one I did I would have definitely gone for the one of the Hello Kitty with her hands on her hips and a ‘Milk’ sweatshirt (which if they sold I would have definitely bought not going to lie).

Hello Kitty Phone Case Options

The only other clothing I got was the pink oversized hoodie, which was a debacle in itself. As basically I wanted the biggest size so a size large because I wanted it to be super big and comfy so I could just live in it essentially but all I could see was mediums. So I went to the till and I paid for my medium and my phone case.

This was an event in itself because I went to one of the tills, and kept being told I could buy the hoodie there and then getting told I couldn’t because that particular till (the jewellery counter on Topshop Oxford Street on the ground floor) didn’t process clothing. However, because it was part of the pop up they eventually let it go through. I then went back to the Hello Kitty stand to show I’d paid for the phone case so she could get to work, and then noticed that there was in fact a large hoodie. Unfortunately, I couldn’t refund it at the till I just paid at but had to go to the bottom floor (-2) to get a refund, though they also let me buy the pin badge that I forget to get the first time. By the way quick side note I’ve started collecting pins so be sure to watch this space!

So by then Martin who had graciously went with me was probably dying as he hates clothes shops because he hates large crowds of people, which I totally sympathise with but my love of clothes usually wins out. Also, I’m not recalling this story to call out the Topshop staff, as they were totally lovely the entire way through- I just wanted to share my stress with you all!

Anyway, getting back on point the hoodie was £28.00, which while not cheap I didn’t think was too bad for a hoodie, and it is super cute and comfy. I know that screen printing might not be a lot of people’s preference, and its definitely not as well made as the Lazy Oaf collection but I needed an oversized hoodie that was not stolen from my boyfriend, and for some reason that shade of pink really suits me.

Hello Kitty Hoodie

Hello Kitty Hoodie 2

Here’s what it looks like on. I will get better pictures soon I promise but wanted to get this post up as soon as possible so people would still have a chance to visit the pop up before it leaves. I had the hoodie on because it was pouring it down with rain and for the first time in forever (yes that is a Frozen reference) I was cold.

My final purchase as already mentioned was the Hello Kitty pin, which basically proclaims you as a member of Hello Kitty’s gang. This was £5.00, which is not bad and I highly recommend that everyone gets one so we can all identify each other as fellow gang members.

Hello Kitty Pins

I’ve taken pictures of all the other things they have on sale so you can see if there is anything else you prefer. If I’d have had the money I would have totally got one of the white t-shirts. Since I am a terrible blogger (and socially awkward) I was too nervous and forget to note down the prices for everything but hopefully the prices of the other items give you a good indication of what everything was priced at.

The other warmer option available is a grey sweatshirt with the same logo that is on the hoodie. I actually do know the price of this as it’s visible in the picture I took, so for those wondering as far as I can see this item is £25.00.

Hello Kitty Sweatshirt

Here’s a better picture from the Hello Kitty Instagram so you can see what it looks like on.

Image: @wearehellokitty/ Instagram

Looking at it now I kind of wish I had bought this shirt (below) but you know having money is also nice. It would look super cute with the gingham trousers from the Hello Kitty Lazy Oaf Collection though. I unfortunately don’t know how much this is priced at because I am a horrible blogger and didn’t look.

Hello Kitty T-shirt

Another thing I wished I would have been able to pick up is one of the caps because I suspect the heat is probably going to come back and hats really help me to well not melt in the heat and this would have been a super cute option.

Hello Kitty Gang Hats

They also had Hello Kitty bum bags but unless I am selling stuff at a car boot (which, I have done many times I’ll have you know) then bum bags are not my friend. Also, please no one call them a fanny pack around me.

Hello Kitty Bum Bags

There was also a super cute tote bag available but I have way too many of those already so had to pass but the logo did look particularly adorable on them.

Hello Kitty Tote Bag

Other merchandise included what I think are keychains (though they are massive but customisable) and mugs (which you could customise and were super cute and I wanted one but I actually needed a phone case and I don’t need a mug), as well as notebooks (which I don’t think you could customise).

Hello Kitty Key Chains

Hello Kitty Girl Gang Main Image

The collection is only available till the 1st July so if you want something I’d pick it up soon, as it’s a cute way to add a bit of Hello Kitty into your life without it being too ‘childish’ if that is not your style (though I personally don’t care at all about that). The pop up is located at the Oxford Street Topshop on the ground floor just in front of the Lola’s Cupcakes stand.

If you get a pin and want to join my gang send me a picture of you wearing it by tagging me on Instagram or on Twitter. My username for Instagram is @aprilisthecruellestmonth and for Twitter is @aprilcruelmonth.

Overall though this is a super cute collection for those who want some Hello Kitty merchandise but can’t afford anything from the Lazy Oaf collection.

Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf ‘Photoshoot’

Or as I like to deem it the chronicles of April eating an apple (which FYI I did actually eat afterwards). Though I think after seeing this Lazy Oaf are definitely going to regret not making me the face of the collection (they really won’t).

So after seeing Lazy Oaf post pictures of just generally cool people wearing the new Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf collection I decided I wanted to do that too with the piece I bought. So I started to contemplate what would look good with the super cute red turtleneck I purchased from the collection. And settled on a apple. Yes, a apple because Hello Kitty reminds me of school and my childhood, and I thought it would be cute. In fairness, it could have been on anyone other than me.

However, I am not cool so ended up channelling this aesthetic more:

“You’re trying to be cool but you look like a fool to me.”

Yes, I am quoting Avril Lavigne. Do I believe she has been replaced by a body double? How knows? You tell me.

I’ve already posted the main image for this blog post on Instagram but thought I’d post some more of the pictures Martin took for me here so you can sympathise with how much I try to make my outfit look good but ruin it with my face. However, since I want to start posting more ‘outfit of the day’ type posts in the future I guess I’m just going to have to suck it up and keep practicing.

Also, for anyone who follows me on Instagram (if you don’t please consider following for more silly pictures of my face and food) you might have seen me say this already, but the background of these pictures and a lot of my pictures is the same because I still have not got over my shyness of having my picture taken outside yet! So apologises for all the spam you will be getting on here or on Instagram while I try to get more comfortable with the art of posing.

I’m also going to start by showing you the images of what fashionable and cool people look like wearing this collection so you can actually get some inspiration!

So now to the photos. If anyone is interested I’m wearing just a plain black cami dress (t’s from H and M but I don’t think they sell it anymore) with my Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf turtleneck, black tights, and Primark black ‘Vans’ like shoes (which, I’m going to be talking about in another post soon).

Lazy Oaf Hello Kitty Photoshoot 2

The contemplating my apple and life choices pose (that was purely done by accident FYI).

Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf 3

The I would just like the apple and it’s really annoying my lipstick is not in that one spot pose. Also, apologises for my dirty fingernails, they had been thoroughly washed but I had to change a hoover bag that day (yes me life is that glamorous) and it took a few goings over before they got completely clean again.

Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf Photo 2

The I am April and this is my apple pose. I look weirdly proud in this photograph lol, but at least my top is cute!

So there it is. Lazy Oaf I think we both know who you want your model to be for your next collection. I am not ashamed that I would work for clothes.

I am really hoping to get some more of the Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf collection but it is selling out fast (and I am broke)! If I do expect photoshoot part 2 to come your way.

Comment with your favourite ridiculous face below! I know this seems like a bit of a weird blog post but I kind of wanted to make sure I occasionally share my fails along with my successes.

The Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf Collection is here

Image: Caroline from The Kawaii Kollective

I am beyond excited that the Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf collection is finally here. I’ve been waiting for it to come out ever since I saw a teaser for the collection on Lazy Oaf’s Instagram.

Image: Instagram/ @lazyoafs

I mean just look at that skirt! It’s anyone who is obsessed with Hello Kitty dream! So you can bet I was over the moon when I heard that Lazy Oaf would be opening their shop on the 15th June to debut the collection, and that the first 50 people would receive an exclusive Hello Kitty bag. Now, I was not able to go to the shop myself, as I was not able to afford something from the collection and train fare to London, but my friend Caroline was able to go so I have an exclusive look at what the bag looked like!

Lazy Oaf Hello Kitty bagImage: Caroline from The Kawaii Kollective

Isn’t it cute? But just look at the queue she had to wait in to get it!

Lazy Oaf QueueImage: Caroline from The Kawaii Kollective

Also, Caroline was lovely enough to take some snaps of the store for me! And unsurprisingly it was the giant Hello Kitty plush in the store that excited me the most.

Hello Kitty PlushImage: Caroline from The Kawaii Kollective

The collection itself also is just so cute, and I wish I could have seen the skirt that started the obsession for me in person but alas I’m going to have to earn some more money before that ever becomes a reality.

She also got a cute snap of the pyjama style Hello Kitty top they are selling that I have to admit is not my favourite piece from the collection but looks adorable in the snap Caroline got.

Also, just look at the jacket!!! Before I realised that financially it was not going to happen this was the piece I was going to buy from the collection!

However, let’s get down to the collection and what I think of each piece. Starting with the Hello Kitty face skirt. I don’t really know what to say about this piece other than I love it so much though I will admit it was a struggle at first to figure out what to pair it with because it is such a statement piece. In the end I think a simple black crop top is probably the best choice.

£65.00 (and is already sold out on the Lazy Oaf website 😦 here’s hoping they restock soon!)

Next up is this long sleeve number that makes great use of the primary colours that are often featured in Hello Kitty merchandise (when pink isn’t). I think this would look great tucked into a red skirt or just worn with some jeans on lazy days. While I love the blue collar and red sleeve details this is not one of my favourite pieces from the collection just because some of the other pieces just stand out that little bit more to me.

Priced at £50.00.

Next up is the piece I wanted to buy so much but is also the most expensive piece in the collection coming in at £120.00. I wanted this jacket because I am just such a fan of Lazy Oaf’s denim jackets and this jacket just ticks all the boxes of what my aesthetic is at the moment, which is pastel colours and a cute cartoon character involved in some way basically.

Priced at £120.00.

As you can see I already own a Lazy Oaf x Disney Marie jacket, which is one of the softest and most comfortable things I own!

Next up is probably my least favourite item from the collection not that I hate it or wouldn’t totally wear it if someone bought it for me it just doesn’t stand out to me as much as some of the other pieces!

Priced at £75.00.

I was so tempted to make this next top my pick from the collection. As not only is it adorable, but it has a lovely frilly neckline, which I’ve been loving on tops at the moment. However, after seeing the blogger Mariza (who was sent some items from the collection) rock a different item from the collection I changed my mind.

Priced at £38.00.

Ok, so recently I’ve warmed to the idea of MOM jeans but have yet to actually go down the rabbit hole of buying them. One because it’s ridiculously hot at the moment. And two because they look like they have no stretch. My butt requires jeans that stretch. If I ever do finally go for the trend these jeans with cute tiny embroidered Hello Kitty’s on them are first on my list.

Next up is the item I did actually end up buying from the collection (pictures to come as soon as it arrives!). I just fell in love with the statement turtleneck (despite the heat) and I miss having red tops in my collection so thought this would the perfect piece. Plus, it will look great with my denim pinafore from Topshop.

Priced at £40.00.

So this is the piece I actually want the most next because it just compliments the red turtleneck perfectly! Also, I love the uniqueness of the straps as a way to incorporate Hello Kitty into the design.

Priced at £78.60 on the Lazy Oaf website but for some reason is £75.00 on Asos.

If you want a bit more adult chic to your Hello Kitty clothing the black keyhole dress is the piece for you. It’s definitely got the style of something I’d wear on a night out but the little Hello Kitty can serve as a reminder not to do anything too ridiculous (which, for me is just wanting to dance- that’s literally all I want to do when drunk).

Priced at £65.00.

If you just want something cute and Hello Kitty themed to lounge around in the next piece is probably for you. As not only is this hoodie covered in loads of little Hello Kitty details it looks ridiculously comfy too.

Priced at £75.00.

So this next piece is probably my personal least favourite item from the collection though I suspect a lot of people will love the bow back detail to the shirt. For me personally I just don’t know how I’d wear it and it just doesn’t fit my own personal style. I suspect though like most pieces that have even a little element of cool to them, someone a lot more fashionable than me could probably rock it.

For anyone who loves Hello Kitty but doesn’t want a piece that grabs too much attention this cute simple black t-shirt with Hello Kitty surrounded by two roses is perfect! It definitely goes on my list of pieces I want to buy once I have the money, as sometimes going simple just is best.

Priced at £40.00.

I don’t know about anyone else but I am pale and freckly and definitely feeling the effects of the heat right now. That’s why investing in this adorable Hello Kitty baseball cap is most definitely a good idea. After all, anyone who reads my posts knows I can deal with baseball caps, as long as it is not a visor!

Priced at £25.00.

Anyone who has read any of my fashion posts before knows that I am OBSESSED with gingham so when I saw these adorable trousers I fell in love. I also think that incorporating Hello Kitty just by including her signature bow is such an ingenious tribute and makes it a wearable piece for Hello Kitty lovers and non-lovers alike.

Priced at £70.00.

Also, this isn’t a pairing that I’d of automatically made myself but they actually look super cute with yellow!

The next piece is something that I’d totally rock for bedtime but I have to admit I’m not into the whole nightwear for daytime look. Especially, as by looking at the description this is made of a pyjama friendly material. To be honest I’d probably end up just falling asleep in the middle of the day if I wore it.

Priced at £55.00.

I was so happy when I saw that this cute little heart shaped bag was not made out of real leather! Now, it can definitely go on my must buy list. Especially as I need some more bags for when I want to just take my phone and purse out (not that happens often but still!).

Priced at £38.00.

SOCKS! If you haven’t guessed already last but not least are some frankly quite adorable socks. At £18.00 for 2 pairs I’m not going to lie they are some pretty pricey socks but if you are as obsessed with this collection as I am you could probably be convinced to part with that money.

Priced at £18.00 respectively.

Overall, I am in love with this collection and definitely hope that all the pieces don’t sell out before I can buy them! I also really love the way the collection used some really inventive ways to incorporate Hello Kitty as a brand and aesthetic into some very Lazy Oaf-esque pieces. It’s not surprising to me at all that some of the pieces are already sold out and that is flying off the shelves. Lazy Oaf has definitely got it right again!

The collection is available in sizes UK 6-14 (as far as I could tell), which to be honest is a little disappointing, and my only real criticism of Lazy Oaf is that I wish they were more inclusive and would offer a larger size range. Especially as looking at their measurements their clothes tend to occasionally run quite small. Also, can Lazy Oaf please expand to shoes?!

Just think about what Hello Kitty x Lazy Oaf shoes would like…
